Biography
Born in Lemberg, Austria-Hungary (today Lviv, Ukraine), Avi-Yonah moved to MandatoryPalestine with his parents in during the ThirdAliyah. He first studied at GymnasiaRehavia in Jerusalem, then he went to England and studied history and archeology at the UniversityofLondon.
