David Gifford Leathes Prior, Baron Prior of Brampton (born 3 December ) is the former chairman of NHS England and chairman of University College Hospital. He served as ConservativeMember of Parliament (MP) for North Norfolk from until the general election, when he lost his seat to Norman Lamb of the Liberal Democrats by votes. In , he was appointed as a life peer in the House of Lords.
Early life
The son of Conservative politician James Prior, he was educated at Charterhouse School and Pembroke College, Cambridge,[2] where he gained an exhibition and MA degree in Law.
During his time at Cambridge, he helped to launch the Cambridge University Industrial Society, a student group, which subsequently spread to many other UK universities. He was Chairman of the Cambridge University Conservative Association and was
