Early Years

Roald Dahl was born September 13, , in Wales. His parents were named Sofie and Harald, and were from Norway. His father worked for the ships in Wales and provided them with coal and other supplies, he made quite a lot of money doing this. When Roald was three, his life was shattered. His seven-year-old sister, Astri, died of appendicitis. Soon after, his broken hearted father died.

School Days

When Roald was six he started kindergarten. After kindergarten Roald went to a school for boys, he wasn’t the best student, but he always enjoyed writing. He kept a secret writing diary that he would write in while he sat in the branches of a tree. A year later Roald moved to a boy’s boarding school. When he was thirteen, he left his family to go to yet another boarding school, it was called Repton School.
